On 11th February 2025, our Head Teacher, Mrs. Sylvia Shekhar, and student Miss Aaradhya Pokharkar were felicitated for their remarkable contribution in collecting the highest amount for the ‘Dwaj Nidhi’. Their dedication and efforts were appreciated, and they were honored as role models for inspiring others to contribute towards this noble cause.
The Annual Sports Day was held on 28th December 2024 with great enthusiasm. Students actively participated in various track and field events, showcasing their talent and sportsmanship. On the same day, the winners were felicitated with medals and certificates in recognition of their achievements. The event not only encouraged physical fitness but also instilled the spirit of teamwork and healthy competition among students.
In the Primary Section, Savitribai Phule Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted where young students presented short speeches and poems about her life and contribution as the first woman teacher of India. Teachers explained her role in promoting girls’ education, inspiring children to respect education and equality.
The Primary Section of our school organized a Science Exhibition with great enthusiasm and participation. Students from Std. I to IV showcased their creativity and scientific temper through a variety of working models, experiments, and informative charts. With the guidance of their teachers, the children presented topics related to environment, energy, health, and simple machines in an innovative manner. The exhibition created a platform for young learners to explore, question, and apply scientific concepts in real life. It also helped them develop confidence in public speaking as they explained their projects to teachers, parents, and visitors. The efforts of the students were highly appreciated, and the event succeeded in nurturing curiosity, creativity, and a love for science among the children.
A Health Check-up Camp was conducted for students of Grades I to IV. Medical professionals examined the children’s general health and guided them about good hygiene and healthy habits. The initiative helped in creating awareness about the importance of regular health care and early detection of health issues.
On 16th January 2025, our school joyfully celebrated Grandparents’ Day to honor the love, wisdom, and guidance of our elders. The celebration began with a warm welcome, as grandparents were greeted with a live band and flowers, setting a festive and cheerful mood. A delicious breakfast with tea created a friendly atmosphere where everyone felt at home. The event was filled with fun and engaging activities such as a PlayStation challenge, couples balloon-balancing game, buttoning shirt race, and a saree folding contest, which brought laughter and joy to all. Adding to the charm of the day, grandparents shared their heartfelt thoughts and nostalgic stories, making the celebration truly memorable. The event beautifully highlighted the invaluable bond between grandparents and grandchildren.
On 18th January 2025, SIES Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Kindergarten organized a webinar on Emotional Growth and Development for Parents. The session was conducted by Ms. Nishigandha Magar (M.A. Clinical Psychology, Transpersonal Regression Therapist, Access Bars Practitioner, Pranic Healer, Counselor, and Psychologist).
The webinar focused on important aspects of emotional intelligence such as recognizing and managing emotions, developing empathy, effective communication, fostering resilience, and practical parenting strategies. The initiative aimed to equip parents with essential skills to support their child’s emotional well-being and to create a nurturing, positive, and supportive environment at home.
On 24th January 2025, our school celebrated Republic Day as a tribute to the birth of the Indian Constitution. Students came dressed in vibrant tricolor outfits, beautifully symbolizing unity, patriotism, and pride in the nation. A thought-provoking skit was presented, highlighting the significance of our national colors, the empowerment of women, and the importance of national symbols. The celebration inspired the young minds to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and instilled in them a deep sense of pride, responsibility, and respect for the nation.
Our little explorers from SIES Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Kindergarten had a truly delightful picnic at Play and Learn, Kurla on 20th February 2025. The day was packed with laughter, adventure, and joyful learning as children immersed themselves in fun activities, interactive play, and exciting team games. From sliding and swinging to engaging in creative play, every moment sparkled with happiness, curiosity, and togetherness—making it a day to remember!
Our school proudly continues its tradition of encouraging and promoting English oratory talent. The English Oratorical Contest, organized for the past 39 years, has been a platform for young learners to express their ideas confidently and eloquently. Previously known as the V.K. Krishna Menon English Oratorical Contest, it has now been renamed as the G.H. Ananthanarayanan English Oratorical Contest in honor of Late G.H. Ananthanarayanan, one of the founding members of the erstwhile North Bombay Welfare Society. This prestigious contest continues to inspire students to develop public speaking skills, confidence, and excellence in English expression.

Award: As part of the Youth for Earth global online programme conducted by the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) in association with Rotary Club of Bombay Chembur West (RCBCW) on 21st December 2024, four of our Climate Ambassador students were felicitated with the ‘Eco Heroes’ Award for their exemplary efforts.
These initiatives have empowered students to actively contribute to environmental sustainability, promoting awareness and practical action in their communities.
An Orientation Meeting was organized to familiarize parents with the school’s rules and regulations, academic activities, competitive exams, and scholarship opportunities. The session aimed to ensure effective parent-school collaboration and keep parents informed about their child’s learning journey and upcoming opportunities.
The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) played a key role in fostering a sense of community among parents, teachers, and students. During the academic year, two PTA meetings were held between June 2024 and January 2025 to discuss students’ progress, school activities, and collaborative initiatives for overall development.
The torchbearers of the Students’ Council were elected on 12th July 2024, marking the beginning of a new leadership journey. The Investiture Ceremony, held on 26th July 2024, was a proud moment as the young leaders pledged to uphold their duties with dedication and responsibility.
On 23rd July 2024, our dedicated teachers conducted a comprehensive Literacy Survey, actively contributing to educational development and spreading community awareness. This initiative highlighted the role of teachers not only as educators but also as changemakers in society.
From 22nd to 28th July 2024, the school celebrated Shikshan Saptah to mark the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The week was filled with activities that emphasized innovation, inclusivity, and quality in education.
On 15th August 2024, our school proudly launched its first-ever e-magazine, Spectrum Express, in the presence of the Principal, teachers, and enthusiastic students.
This digital platform provides a creative space for students to showcase their literary, artistic, and innovative talents. Featuring articles, poems, short stories, artwork, and school activity reports, Spectrum Express stands out as an interactive and eco-friendly alternative to traditional print magazines—accessible anytime, anywhere.

Our school took an active role in the Mukhyamantri Mazhi Shala Sundar Shala Abhiyan by promptly providing all required details. This participation reflected our commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen and enhance the quality of education.
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the school introduced the ‘Happy Saturday’ initiative in the academic year 2024–25 for Classes 1 to 8. On these days, students attended school without notebooks—carrying only a lunchbox, water bottle, and handkerchief—and engaged in experiential learning through sports, arts, tourism, and intellectual games. The initiative brought joy to learning while fostering creativity, collaboration, and exploration.
On 26th August 2024, our distinguished alumnus Dr. Abhi Vora conducted an enlightening session on "Osteoporosis: A Silent Killer and Its Management.” The program shed light on this often overlooked condition, emphasizing the importance of awareness, prevention, and early detection. We thank Dr. Vora for his valuable contribution and take pride in having alumni who serve the community with such dedication.
As part of an Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) initiative, an Anaemia Screening Camp was organized on 9th January 2025 in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad. The camp benefitted 316 girl students and 42 female staff members, promoting health awareness, early detection, and preventive care, thereby fostering a healthier school community.
On 20th January 2025, the school hosted a Mathematics Model Competition-cum-Exhibition, where 51 innovative models were showcased by students from Standards 5 to 9. The event fostered creativity, problem-solving, and mathematical thinking, while encouraging students to apply concepts in practical and imaginative ways.

A special session was organized to spread awareness about menstrual health and hygiene among girl students. The programme provided valuable guidance on maintaining hygiene, breaking taboos, and fostering confidence through open discussions.
A seminar on Artificial Intelligence introduced students to emerging technologies, their real-world applications, and future career opportunities in the field of AI.
Expert counsellors guided students in exploring various career paths, helping them align their strengths, interests, and aspirations with future opportunities.

To instill eco-consciousness, separate dry and wet waste bins were placed across the campus. The school also participated in Dry Waste Collection Drives on 19th December 2024, 30th January 2025, and 17th–18th February 2025, reinforcing habits of recycling and sustainable living.
Through the Khari Kamai initiative, students undertook small, meaningful tasks to earn money, fostering respect for labour and the value of hard work. Many students also discovered entrepreneurial skills such as bargaining, marketing, and managing savings.
The 1975 batch reunion was a memorable occasion filled with sharing achievements, cherishing memories, and strengthening bonds. Alumni pledged to support and collaborate with upcoming batches, ensuring a strong and connected APJ family.
Procter & Gamble conducted an educational session for female students of Grades 5 and 6 on menstrual hygiene. The session highlighted the importance of proper menstrual care, the correct use of sanitary pads, and maintaining personal hygiene. This initiative empowered young girls with essential knowledge, building confidence and promoting well-being.
In collaboration with RJ Sankara Eye Hospital, the school organized a comprehensive eye screening camp for students from Grades 4 to 9. The initiative promoted eye health, encouraged early detection of vision concerns, and raised awareness about proper eye care.

The Second Semester Examination was conducted from 26th March to 21st April 2025, with results scheduled for 1st May 2025. To support academic readiness, SSC coaching classes for Std. X students commenced on 15th April 2025, ensuring focused preparation for board examinations.
