Pravesh Utsav for the students of Std. I to IVView Photo

The school reopened on 15th June 2024. On this occasion, we celebrated Pravesh Utsav for the students of Std. I to IV. The teachers welcomed the children with beautiful gifts, and the classrooms were decorated attractively. The teachers assured the students that the new academic year would be filled with fun, joy, and innovative learning activities.

Parents’ Orientation for Std. I to IVView Photo

Parents’ Orientation for Std. I to IV was held on 24th June 2024 and was addressed by our Head Teacher, Mrs. Sylvia S. Nadar. On the same day, a Parents’ Meeting was also conducted for Std. I to IV. During the meeting, various committees were formed such as PTA, SMC, Mata-Palak, Transportation, and Mid-Day Meal.

On 17th August 2024, under the ‘Joyful Saturday’ initiative, a special activity on National Anthem Singing and Flag Making was conducted. Students enthusiastically participated in preparing beautiful tricolour flags and sang the National Anthem with pride and respect. The activity instilled in them a sense of patriotism and unity. As part of Joyful Saturdays, different creative and engaging activities are organized every week to make learning enjoyable, develop students’ talents, and provide them with opportunities beyond classroom learning.

New India Literacy Programme (NILP)View Photo

As part of the New India Literacy Programme (NILP), our teachers conducted a survey on illiteracy in the community. The objective of this survey was to identify illiterate individuals and bring them into the mainstream of society through education. By reaching out to people and spreading awareness about the importance of literacy, the teachers encouraged them to join learning programmes. This initiative not only aimed at reducing illiteracy but also at empowering individuals with knowledge, thereby fostering social development and inclusivity.

An Awareness Campaign on the theme "Say No to Plastic and Packed Food” was organized in the school to sensitize students about environmental protection and healthy eating habits. Through speeches, skits, and poster-making activities, children were guided to avoid the use of single-use plastics and to adopt eco-friendly alternatives. They also learned about the harmful effects of packed and junk food on health and were encouraged to bring homemade, nutritious food in their tiffins. The campaign helped inculcate a sense of responsibility among the students towards safeguarding their health as well as the environment.

On 1st April 2025, our students were honored with medals and certificates for their remarkable achievement in the Camel Art Contest 2024. The competition provided a platform for young learners to display their creativity, imagination, and artistic talent. By using different colors and techniques, the students expressed their ideas beautifully through art. Their success in this contest not only brought pride to the school but also motivated other children to explore and develop their artistic skills.Our students enthusiastically participated in the Camel Art Contest. The competition provided them with an opportunity to showcase their creativity, imagination, and artistic skills. It was a wonderful platform that encouraged young talents and boosted their confidence.

On 26th November, Constitution Day was celebrated in school. The Preamble was read collectively, and students took a pledge to uphold the values of the Constitution.

Primary Learning Week View Photo

Our school observed Primary Learning Week with great enthusiasm. Various fun-filled and educational activities were organized to strengthen the basic skills of reading, writing, and numeracy among the students of Std. I to IV. Teachers conducted interactive sessions, storytelling, group activities, and games that made learning enjoyable. The week-long celebration helped children build confidence, develop creativity, and enhance their overall learning experience.

On 11th February 2025, our Head Teacher, Mrs. Sylvia Shekhar, and student Miss Aaradhya Pokharkar were felicitated for their remarkable contribution in collecting the highest amount for the ‘Dwaj Nidhi’. Their dedication and efforts were appreciated, and they were honored as role models for inspiring others to contribute towards this noble cause.


Children With Special Needs (CWSN) View Photo

Special care and attention were given to Children With Special Needs (CWSN) throughout the year. Teachers provided individual guidance, remedial teaching, and emotional support to ensure that these children could learn at their own pace. They were also encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities, fostering confidence and inclusiveness. Our school is committed to creating an environment where every child receives equal opportunities for growth and learning.

The Annual Sports Day was held on 28th December 2024 with great enthusiasm. Students actively participated in various track and field events, showcasing their talent and sportsmanship. On the same day, the winners were felicitated with medals and certificates in recognition of their achievements. The event not only encouraged physical fitness but also instilled the spirit of teamwork and healthy competition among students.

A School Inspection was carried out by the Education Department authorities during the academic year. The inspectors visited classrooms, checked records, and observed the teaching–learning process. They appreciated the efforts of the Head Teacher and staff in maintaining discipline, academic standards, and co-curricular activities. Valuable suggestions were also given for further improvement, which the school is committed to implementing.

Savitribai Phule Jayanti View Photo

In the Primary Section, Savitribai Phule Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm. A special assembly was conducted where young students presented short speeches and poems about her life and contribution as the first woman teacher of India. Teachers explained her role in promoting girls’ education, inspiring children to respect education and equality.

The Primary Section of our school organized a Science Exhibition with great enthusiasm and participation. Students from Std. I to IV showcased their creativity and scientific temper through a variety of working models, experiments, and informative charts. With the guidance of their teachers, the children presented topics related to environment, energy, health, and simple machines in an innovative manner. The exhibition created a platform for young learners to explore, question, and apply scientific concepts in real life. It also helped them develop confidence in public speaking as they explained their projects to teachers, parents, and visitors. The efforts of the students were highly appreciated, and the event succeeded in nurturing curiosity, creativity, and a love for science among the children.

On 22nd September 2024, our students participated in the Shloka Chanting Competition organized by Shree Harihara Putra Bhajan Samaj. Their melodious and disciplined chanting was highly appreciated, and the winners were felicitated for their outstanding performance. The event encouraged students to develop confidence, respect for culture, and interest in traditional learning.

Our school observed Teaching Learning Material (TLM) Day with great creativity and enthusiasm. On this occasion, both teachers and students prepared innovative teaching aids such as flash cards, charts, models, and activity-based resources to make classroom learning more engaging and effective. The exhibition of these materials highlighted the importance of hands-on learning and interactive methods in strengthening concepts. This initiative not only motivated teachers to adopt innovative practices but also helped students grasp lessons in a fun and meaningful way. In addition, as part of TLM Day, students composed and presented their own poems. This activity gave them a platform to express their thoughts imaginatively, enhance their language skills, and enjoy the process of learning through creativity.

A Health Check-up Camp was conducted for students of Grades I to IV. Medical professionals examined the children’s general health and guided them about good hygiene and healthy habits. The initiative helped in creating awareness about the importance of regular health care and early detection of health issues.


Rainy Day Bliss Celebration

On 1st August 2024, our school celebrated Rainy Day Bliss, a joyful and memorable experience for the little ones. Dressed in colorful raincoats, the children enthusiastically sailed paper boats in an artificial pool and danced merrily in the rain. To give them a real taste of the monsoon season, they brought along seasonal delights such as bhajiyas, dates, corn, and plums. The celebration concluded with a vibrant Rainbow Handprint Activity, which fostered creativity and sensory exploration. This fun-filled day not only brought immense joy but also helped children connect with the beauty of the rainy season through experiential learning and play.

On 31st August 2024, our school celebrated Sanskrit Day with a special dance performance titled "A Dance of Divine Harmony and Timeless Charm.” The young dancers beautifully expressed the richness of Sanskrit, a divine language that unites and inspires generations. Through their graceful movements, they conveyed how Sanskrit, with its simplicity and depth, continues to guide us toward wisdom, peace, and harmony. The performance served as a heartfelt tribute to the timeless charm and uplifting spirit of Sanskrit, leaving the audience inspired and appreciative of our cultural heritage.

Dental Check-up Camp View Photo

On 30th September 2024, a Dental Check-up Camp was organized in collaboration with the Lion’s Club of Ghatkopar. Students underwent a thorough dental examination, where those with healthy teeth were rewarded with stars as a token of appreciation. Children identified with dental issues were guided to brush twice daily and adopt a healthy diet to maintain oral hygiene. In addition, an awareness session was conducted for parents on preventive dental care and the importance of regular check-ups. The camp successfully promoted good oral habits and created early awareness among both students and parents about maintaining strong and healthy teeth.

On 16th January 2025, our school joyfully celebrated Grandparents’ Day to honor the love, wisdom, and guidance of our elders. The celebration began with a warm welcome, as grandparents were greeted with a live band and flowers, setting a festive and cheerful mood. A delicious breakfast with tea created a friendly atmosphere where everyone felt at home. The event was filled with fun and engaging activities such as a PlayStation challenge, couples balloon-balancing game, buttoning shirt race, and a saree folding contest, which brought laughter and joy to all. Adding to the charm of the day, grandparents shared their heartfelt thoughts and nostalgic stories, making the celebration truly memorable. The event beautifully highlighted the invaluable bond between grandparents and grandchildren.


Webinar on Emotional Growth and Development for ParentsView Photo

On 18th January 2025, SIES Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Kindergarten organized a webinar on Emotional Growth and Development for Parents. The session was conducted by Ms. Nishigandha Magar (M.A. Clinical Psychology, Transpersonal Regression Therapist, Access Bars Practitioner, Pranic Healer, Counselor, and Psychologist).

The webinar focused on important aspects of emotional intelligence such as recognizing and managing emotions, developing empathy, effective communication, fostering resilience, and practical parenting strategies. The initiative aimed to equip parents with essential skills to support their child’s emotional well-being and to create a nurturing, positive, and supportive environment at home.



Republic Day

On 24th January 2025, our school celebrated Republic Day as a tribute to the birth of the Indian Constitution. Students came dressed in vibrant tricolor outfits, beautifully symbolizing unity, patriotism, and pride in the nation. A thought-provoking skit was presented, highlighting the significance of our national colors, the empowerment of women, and the importance of national symbols. The celebration inspired the young minds to uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution and instilled in them a deep sense of pride, responsibility, and respect for the nation.


Multiple Intelligence

On 1st February 2025, a workshop on Multiple Intelligence was conducted at SIES College of Commerce and Science, Sion, by Dr. Vidhya Satish. The session focused on Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, which emphasizes eight types of intelligence and their importance in holistic learning. Teachers Mrs. Geeta Raut and Mrs. Bindu Jacob attended the workshop and gained valuable insights into adopting personalized teaching strategies. The training equipped them with innovative methods to enhance student engagement, encourage diverse talents, and improve overall learning outcomes in the classroom.

63rd Annual Day

The 63rd Annual Day was celebrated on 12th February 2025 at Sivaswamy Auditorium, Chembur. Students mesmerized the audience with a Marathi & Telugu remix dance and a colorful festival-themed performance by Senior KG. The event showcased creativity, cultural pride, and confidence among our young learners.

Our little explorers from SIES Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Kindergarten had a truly delightful picnic at Play and Learn, Kurla on 20th February 2025. The day was packed with laughter, adventure, and joyful learning as children immersed themselves in fun activities, interactive play, and exciting team games. From sliding and swinging to engaging in creative play, every moment sparkled with happiness, curiosity, and togetherness—making it a day to remember!


G.H. Ananthanarayanan English Oratorical Contest – 28th September 2024

Our school proudly continues its tradition of encouraging and promoting English oratory talent. The English Oratorical Contest, organized for the past 39 years, has been a platform for young learners to express their ideas confidently and eloquently. Previously known as the V.K. Krishna Menon English Oratorical Contest, it has now been renamed as the G.H. Ananthanarayanan English Oratorical Contest in honor of Late G.H. Ananthanarayanan, one of the founding members of the erstwhile North Bombay Welfare Society. This prestigious contest continues to inspire students to develop public speaking skills, confidence, and excellence in English expression.

Award: As part of the Youth for Earth global online programme conducted by the Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) in association with Rotary Club of Bombay Chembur West (RCBCW) on 21st December 2024, four of our Climate Ambassador students were felicitated with the ‘Eco Heroes’ Award for their exemplary efforts.

These initiatives have empowered students to actively contribute to environmental sustainability, promoting awareness and practical action in their communities.


 


Orientation Meeting


An Orientation Meeting was organized to familiarize parents with the school’s rules and regulations, academic activities, competitive exams, and scholarship opportunities. The session aimed to ensure effective parent-school collaboration and keep parents informed about their child’s learning journey and upcoming opportunities.


Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)


The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) played a key role in fostering a sense of community among parents, teachers, and students. During the academic year, two PTA meetings were held between June 2024 and January 2025 to discuss students’ progress, school activities, and collaborative initiatives for overall development.


School Parliament


The torchbearers of the Students’ Council were elected on 12th July 2024, marking the beginning of a new leadership journey. The Investiture Ceremony, held on 26th July 2024, was a proud moment as the young leaders pledged to uphold their duties with dedication and responsibility.


Empowering Education: Teachers’ Literacy Survey Initiative


On 23rd July 2024, our dedicated teachers conducted a comprehensive Literacy Survey, actively contributing to educational development and spreading community awareness. This initiative highlighted the role of teachers not only as educators but also as changemakers in society.


Shikshan Saptah


From 22nd to 28th July 2024, the school celebrated Shikshan Saptah to mark the 4th anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The week was filled with activities that emphasized innovation, inclusivity, and quality in education.


The Launch of School E-Magazine – Spectrum Express


On 15th August 2024, our school proudly launched its first-ever e-magazine, Spectrum Express, in the presence of the Principal, teachers, and enthusiastic students.

This digital platform provides a creative space for students to showcase their literary, artistic, and innovative talents. Featuring articles, poems, short stories, artwork, and school activity reports, Spectrum Express stands out as an interactive and eco-friendly alternative to traditional print magazines—accessible anytime, anywhere.


Instructional Sessions


To strengthen academic preparedness, special instructional sessions were conducted for students:

  1. Scholarship Guidance – for Pre-Upper Primary (Std. 5) and Pre-Secondary (Std. 8) Scholarship Examinations.

  2. Moderator’s Guidance Session – for Std. 10 students, to help them excel in board examinations.


From Reel Time to Real Time: An Inspiring Movie Experience

The school screened the thought-provoking film "The Silent Hero”, leaving students deeply inspired by its powerful message of courage and resilience. The experience encouraged reflection and meaningful discussions among the learners.


Mukhyamantri Mazhi Shala Sundar Shala Abhiyan


Our school took an active role in the Mukhyamantri Mazhi Shala Sundar Shala Abhiyan by promptly providing all required details. This participation reflected our commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen and enhance the quality of education.


Anandadayi Shanivar (Happy Saturday)


In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the school introduced the ‘Happy Saturday’ initiative in the academic year 2024–25 for Classes 1 to 8. On these days, students attended school without notebooks—carrying only a lunchbox, water bottle, and handkerchief—and engaged in experiential learning through sports, arts, tourism, and intellectual games. The initiative brought joy to learning while fostering creativity, collaboration, and exploration.


Health Check-Up on Osteoporosis: A Silent Killer


On 26th August 2024, our distinguished alumnus Dr. Abhi Vora conducted an enlightening session on "Osteoporosis: A Silent Killer and Its Management.” The program shed light on this often overlooked condition, emphasizing the importance of awareness, prevention, and early detection. We thank Dr. Vora for his valuable contribution and take pride in having alumni who serve the community with such dedication.


Healthy Futures: Anaemia Screening for Girls and Staff


As part of an Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) initiative, an Anaemia Screening Camp was organized on 9th January 2025 in collaboration with Bharat Vikas Parishad. The camp benefitted 316 girl students and 42 female staff members, promoting health awareness, early detection, and preventive care, thereby fostering a healthier school community.


Mathematics Model Competition & Exhibition


On 20th January 2025, the school hosted a Mathematics Model Competition-cum-Exhibition, where 51 innovative models were showcased by students from Standards 5 to 9. The event fostered creativity, problem-solving, and mathematical thinking, while encouraging students to apply concepts in practical and imaginative ways.

An awareness session on the harmful effects of drugs was conducted to educate students about the importance of making healthy life choices. The programme emphasized the need to stay away from substance abuse and highlighted ways to build a drug-free society.

Menstrual Understanding and Hygiene2nd August 2024

A special session was organized to spread awareness about menstrual health and hygiene among girl students. The programme provided valuable guidance on maintaining hygiene, breaking taboos, and fostering confidence through open discussions.

English Club

To enhance proficiency in the English language, students participated in engaging activities that unlocked the world of words and nurtured a love for literature.

Science Club

Fostering curiosity and innovation, the Science Club engaged students in hands-on experiments, research projects, workshops, competitions, and field trips, nurturing critical thinking and inspiring future innovators.

Value Lab

To promote holistic growth, sessions were conducted on the values of Compassion, Courage, Tranquility, Happiness, and Resilience. These meaningful sessions encouraged students to integrate values into daily life.

Let’s Change – #Swachhta Monitor

The school actively participated in the BMC’s mission for a Littering and Spitting-Free Maharashtra, spreading awareness about cleanliness and civic responsibility.


Meena Raju Manch


This platform empowers girls by encouraging regular school attendance, vigilance against gender-based discrimination, and active participation in discussions. Students of Std. 6 and 7 took part in competitions, dialogues, and leadership activities, ensuring both boys and girls shared equal responsibility in fostering gender equity.


Vishakha Committee


The committee continues to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for female students and staff. It conducts awareness sessions, grievance redressal, and gender justice initiatives, safeguarding dignity and empowerment.


Environmental Responsibility: Waste Segregation Drive


To instill eco-consciousness, separate dry and wet waste bins were placed across the campus. The school also participated in Dry Waste Collection Drives on 19th December 2024, 30th January 2025, and 17th–18th February 2025, reinforcing habits of recycling and sustainable living.


Scouts and Guides – Khari Kamai: Learning the Dignity of Labour


Through the Khari Kamai initiative, students undertook small, meaningful tasks to earn money, fostering respect for labour and the value of hard work. Many students also discovered entrepreneurial skills such as bargaining, marketing, and managing savings.


Alumni Meet – A Great Way to Reconnect (27th February 2025)


The 1975 batch reunion was a memorable occasion filled with sharing achievements, cherishing memories, and strengthening bonds. Alumni pledged to support and collaborate with upcoming batches, ensuring a strong and connected APJ family.


Health & Wellness Initiatives


P&G’s Awareness Session on Menstrual Hygiene18th March 2025

Procter & Gamble conducted an educational session for female students of Grades 5 and 6 on menstrual hygiene. The session highlighted the importance of proper menstrual care, the correct use of sanitary pads, and maintaining personal hygiene. This initiative empowered young girls with essential knowledge, building confidence and promoting well-being.

Eye Screening Camp for Students20th & 21st March 2025

In collaboration with RJ Sankara Eye Hospital, the school organized a comprehensive eye screening camp for students from Grades 4 to 9. The initiative promoted eye health, encouraged early detection of vision concerns, and raised awareness about proper eye care.


Academic Excellence & Recognition


Distribution of Talent & Scholastic Prizes26th March 2025

  • 248 Talent Prizes were awarded to students of Std. V to X.

  • 44 Scholastic Prizes were presented to students of Std. V to IX.
    These prizes recognized outstanding performance, encouraging students to strive for greater achievements.


Examinations & SSC Coaching


The Second Semester Examination was conducted from 26th March to 21st April 2025, with results scheduled for 1st May 2025. To support academic readiness, SSC coaching classes for Std. X students commenced on 15th April 2025, ensuring focused preparation for board examinations.
